blue is the new black

on:located on leith street, which is just a few bus stops away from our hostel, the cheong fatt tze mansion, or better known as the blue mansion, has a loud indigo outer wall that makes it a very distinctive building in the area.
on the other hand, its colourful history and unique combination of oriental, danish, local and western architectural design and construction materials have also helped it stand out through time.
fellow explorers, please do note that the blue mansion is only open for visiting, and only by guided tours, at 11am and 2pm. on our first trip there, D and i didnt know this and were barred from entry at the gate. and then on our second attempt the next day, we were about 15 minutes late and almost couldnt make it to the tour, poor us. luckily for us, just as we were standing at the gate, fretting over what else to do, the very kind person-in-charge approached us to offer us entry, phew.
if not for that, we wouldnt have the opportunity to see all these:
though the whole tour did not take very long (maybe 45 minutes or so), it was educational, interesting, and made a great first item on our long list of activities to cover for the day, so happy! 🙂
