the fun of getting lost

Posted by: lemonbarleystrawberry on: October 1, 2011

dropped by at tanjong pagar on a random thursday afternoon for no particular reason, other than a sudden craving for exploration.

and cute little cafes.

wanted to look for the vanilla cafe but surprise surprise, i got lost.

still, i wasnt exactly fretting.

i know that getting lost always gets me to places i wouldnt have gone to usually and because of that, i will stumble into more fun and adventures!!!

so i was more EXCITED than anything!!!

passed by ann siang hill park but unlike all the other times where i walked on without a second glance, i decided to check it out.

discovered a little paradise hidden among the lush greenery on top of an endless flights of stairs, sweeeeeeet.

my pretty flora dress helped me fit right in.

somehow ended up in telok ayer street, wherever that is.

and look, other than sending swarms of tiong tiongs our way, china is slowly taking over our street names too.

i think there is a problem with my posture, many of the infrastructures in my photos look slanted, zzz.

wheeeee i LOVE this shop.

it sells the CRAZIEST things you can ever imagine. old newspaper clippings, creepy dolls, non-functional clocks and more creepy dolls.

oh and the wild-looking owner is actually very nice. :)

yay, cafe spotted!

if a place can be described as earnest, muffinry will be it.

unlike some other cafe i’ve visited recently, muffinry is a homely place with very warm, welcoming owners who personally receive you and offer recommendations on the popular muffins that they make themselves.

when i went to the counter, all the three owners were standing there smiling at me and i said hi and they said hi back and then we actually spent about five seconds or so just smiling at one another, HAHAHAHA.

and with these, i spent about two to three hours comfortably immersed in my own world, pouring my heartfelt words into the birthday card i was preparing for someone very special.

unfortunately, the cafe closes quite early (5pm on weekdays), so i had to leave, with about 40 minutes left before meeting 亲爱的 for an impromptu dinner.

time for more exploration then.

dayung sampan, dayung dayung sampan…

thought this is a mosque / restaurant the first time i passed by but alas, it is a museum!!!

slanted.

even taking at close range also cannot. still slanted, zzz.

to my disappointment, the museum closes at 6pm so i only had 10 minutes to explore the place and didnt have enough time to read more about the exhibits.

in case you wanna drop by too, that’s the address.

so after more aimless floating around, gladys finally arrived and we went to a beautiful, romantic place for dinner. *wink wink*

yes ps cafe!!!

might as well right, hahaha!

we didnt see anything we really fancied so we decided to save money and just have soup (for me) and a cake (for gladys).

after a good catch-up session, cheapo singaporean us then went to the nearby hawker centre for a proper meal (though to be honest, we were quite full already).

and guess who we saw, woot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we sat down to dinner together and thanks to the recommendations from james (also famously known as the christmas guy among some of my friends and blog readers, because of some outrageous outfit he had for christmas some years ago), we had quite a good, filling thai meal, yay!!!!

what a wonderful, wonderful day well spent!!!

:D :D :D
