ok so here we go again.
on the third day in krabi, we started off with some healthy breakfast.
HAHAHAHA.
my favourite koala bear cookies, selling at only 1S$.
a good start to our day, yayness!!!
not a very attractive port but i thought we should perform our basic tourists’ duty.
best part of the trip – traveling with strangers in a tour package, albeit for only one day (or should i say, because it was only for one day?).
in my mind, i was mentally fitting them into roles typically seen in a adventure-turned-horror movie scenario.
i even allocated them lines and predicted the ways they would die (or guessed who would fight to the end), should any disaster befall upon us; mentally running the scenes which i had seen in aliens / murder / horror movies.
morbid, i know.
on the surface, however, i put on a face of serenity and together with kingsley, enjoyed myself making up background stories and funky nicknames for everyone, all of which would later become our little secrets and inside jokes.
and now, entering the next best part of the trip.
naiseeeeeee.
at first, everyone was a little shy about taking off their clothes.
but i totally LOVE swimming (and hadnt swum for quite a while) so without much hesitation, i stripped to my bikini and dived into the cool, sparkling water.
was a little stunned to see the starfishes that the guide scooped up because i kept forgetting that this pristine turquoise water is the sea, and not a lake.
not a fan of snorkeling because i’m not used to breathing through my mouth, hahaha.
unlike the elephant trekking guide we had the previous day, the guide for this four islands tour was EXCELLENT.
proactive, friendly, funny and speaks relatively good english.
when he noticed that kingsley was going to take a shot of me jumping into the water, he volunteered to take one for BOTH of us.
unfortunately…
fail #1.
fail #2.
by the third fail, i had given up because jumping into water like that actually hurts quite badly.
but still, A* for effort.
next stop: hong island for kayaking.
a small, private beach in the middle of nowhere.
hoping to get sun kissed (but no such luck).
my first kayaking trip and i was already looking like a pro. *thumbs up*
the overhanging clouds fazed me not.
we headed for the dreamy lagoon again (for lack of better places to go to).
and then we challenged two other couples to a race back to the beach.
we won them hands down.
of course, of course.
the stake was lunch, so yes, quite a lot to lose. we gave it our all and finally emerged victorious.
only to find our catered lunch quite a disappointment.
it was more like home-packed picnic food and disregarding my aching muscles and growling stomach, i refrained from eating too much for fear of another laosai episode.
paradise island next.
not quite sure to whom the island is paradise.
the squatters, maybe.
oh they are not squatters, now i remember. they are marine police whose erm…exact duties were not specified to us by the guide.
quite an idyllic place, if the rustic, wild and unruly outdoor, not unlike the survivor setting, is your kind of place.
couldnt resist going into the water again, especially with my new best friend, the bright orange life jacket which saved me from all the tiring threading in water.
so i spent most of the time lying on my back, floating in the soothing water without a care about where i was heading to.
kingsley, on the other hand, preferred to stay dry on our longtail boat, which has the only “krabi kingdom” logo in krabi (like duh?!) with colourful flags on its bow, as the guide repeatedly pointed out.
the day was fun but exhausting so we didnt do much at the end, safe for having another delicious and dirt cheap dinner at our favourite restaurant, followed by a great movie in our warm, cosy hotel room.
cable tv, with its endless streams of movies, was the best entertainment for us at night, for kingsley doesnt like drinking and aonang doesnt have much to offer after dark, other than cheap alcohol and perhaps, good music.
but of course, nothing much to complain about for i’m always up for some cosy cuddling under the thick, clean duvet; watching a good movie together, safe from the smelly streets and pouring rain outside.
♥ ♥ ♥
the next day, we had to munch on my favourite biscuits in the morning before we headed for the airport as most of the shops open rather late in the day.
but i guess we were too tired to really care. instead, we had a hearty meal when we got back to singapore, as a welcome-home present for ourselves!
ahh…so that concludes the tenth and last assignment of my TAKE*5 project.
there is really no other better way to end it off.
though the holiday wasnt flawless and krabi isnt as perfect as i would like it to be, i’m glad we made the trip.
we had so much fun mainly because of the warm smiles from the locals; new friends; inside jokes and shared memories; cheap food and even cheaper alcohol; fresh experiences and most importantly, each other’s company.
even the bickering and less than ideal weather conditions did not bring us down because we knew none of all those awful circumstances really mattered if we were determined to enjoy ourselves.
for myself, i have already accomplished the underlying goal that i have set for every TAKE*5 assignment including this one, especially this one – learn, laugh and love.
i’ve learnt a lot more about myself; a new place i’ve never been to and of course, someone very dear to me.
i’ve laughed at all the funny bits, and learnt to laugh at the less funny ones; to not take life and myself too seriously so as to be simpler and happier.
lastly, i feel that my love for myself, my boyfriend and more importantly, for life, has advanced to a whole new level.
now, i’ve again made my mark in a new teeny weeny place in this big, big world; injecting it with my memories and stories.
soon, i want to venture out, open my eyes and heart to see and feel more of this wonderful world, to accept and learn and grow and love more.
and above all else, to live life to the fullest.
most part of next week will be dedicated to mugging for my psychology paper on thursday.
still, i will try to blog again soon.
gotta wrap up TAKE*5, do some reflections and get ready to move on.
and yes, i would love to have you here with me then.
