so here is my first TAKE*5 assignment.
you see, since my spanish paper is next wednesday, i reckon i shouldnt start on any major projects yet. but at the same time, i do want to get started on something, so…i chose the one that can help me kill two birds at one go!
GO FAR WITH SPANISH
get an A for my paper next wednesday.
working on it at the moment. though progress is slow, i believe i’m getting into form, hahaha.
get a language exchange partner.
suddenly got hit by this brainwave and decided to google more about it this morning. only then did i realise that there are so many avenues through which i can do a language exchange with native spanish speakers!
what we do in such an exchange is to teach each other the language we are familiar with and learn from each other the one we are interested in. so i advertised myself as a good english and chinese mandarin speaker and appealed to those who can teach me spanish.
emailed a handful of contacts based in singapore, spain and latin america. to my surprise, i received two replies quite promptly and i’ve been corresponding with them since. am feeling quite excited and hoping to get more replies!! wheeeeee!
get an official language proficiency certification and use the language more!
to my relief, i managed to complete all three levels offered in ntu. in the last level, our teacher encouraged us to continue our studies outside the university and sign up for DELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language), which is a paper we sit for to get an internationally recognised certificate for our spanish proficiency skills.
i wanted to take one in may, but because of various circumstances, i missed the deadline for application and had to wait for the august one. being a typical ganchiong spider, i emailed the language school this morning to apply for it three months in advance, hahaha.
i also found an organisation that sends people to teach english in non-english speaking countries like spain. my spanish teacher once told us about this option and i felt pretty attracted by it. i guess if i dont get the job i’m applying for, i shall look into it.
i dont know if all these are considered accomplishments but i do feel it’s a good start.
i’ve always been very interested in languages and i do quite well in them, if i might say so myself. i’ve explored many common ones like japanese, korean and malay, but none has really come to fruition. ah, you know, jack of all trades, master of none.
at the end of the day, i still like spanish best and i think i really have a good chance to excel in it. so why let it go to waste? this time round, i’m going to make something out of it.
and with this first project, i’ve gotten TAKE*5 rolling.

I came back without understanding a word of Project 1′s update, haha.
I am planning to sign up for individual classes for malay and see if I can find tailored refresher classes for japanese. if you wanna advance your malay along with spanish let me know

HAHAHAHA! i just wanted to show off my spanish, such a selfish git right!
i fully support your decision to take up malay, it’s a very useful language to know in singapore, if only i can do better in it. somehow, i cant really learn it well, maybe because it’s too similar to english and even spanish and everything just gets mixed up, oh no, hehehehe! but good luck for your endeavours, be it in malay or japanese ok! JIAYOU!!!!
